 Public evenings at the various venues

  The scopes available are

 1)                  5” f 6 refractor,

 2)                 1 X 8” Celestron Equatorial with Camera Mounts,

 3)                  10” LX200 Meade and CCD

 4)                  12” Newtonian Reflector (Dobsonian)

 

Various filters may be added, for specialised research. (Ha, Hb, O3 and various others) 

The dark, safe and peaceful surroundings, within the Cradle Area, makes this a unique experience, as it is situated within a World Heritage Site.

Lectures and special evenings are held at the conference/play center and a Kiosk is open for refreshments.

The observatory is situated within a world heritage site red zone.

 For Orphanages and State Welfare Institutions,(WO Numbers required or by introduction by registered Organisations, eg. Rotarians and Lions) there is no charge if requested on an official letterhead.

Bookings though, are essential.

  I am available for private talks and lectures for other institutions and organisations on some weekends and week nights. It is advisable that early arrangements be made .

Normal charges are R65.00 per person but R50.00 for more than 30

ALL ASTRONOMY SHOWS ARE WEATHER DEPENDENT

 

Shows, talks and observations, run from 1900 till 2200 hrs., unless special arrangements are made with the Astronomer, or CCD and Photography sessions are ongoing, WHICH IS AN ALL NIGHT EVENT. 

 On the open weekend of the month, the present and next month’s events will be discussed. (Normal rates @ R35.00 p.p.)

 This is a specialised field for Serious Amateur Astronomers and Observers.

 This will be a new addition to the present programs and will be on a Friday Night of or closest to the New Moon.

Telescopes are a requirement

OTHER COURSES

 

Intermediate courses, e.g., Logging Observations, Comet Observations, meteor observations will be done on a random schedule, as events occur.

Specialists in their fields will lecture on the events or subjects.

 We hope that these activities, will enhance your knowledge of the wonderful world you live in and you too can appreciate the magnificent African Skies.
